The internet is in strong knee-jerk reaction mode to comments that, as of right now, President Donald Trump only allegedly said.
The offense in question is that Trump referred to immigrants coming from Haiti and African nations as “s**thole” countries.
“Why are we having all these people from s**thole countries come here?”
CNN White House Correspondent Jim Acosta covered the story with Wolf Blitzer, and he summed up Trump’s sentiments as such:
“The president of the United States just seems to have a problem, Wolf, in this area. And we can tip toe around it, we can dance around it, and not really put our finger on it, but the president seems to harbor racist feelings about people of color.”
Acosta went on to express his feelings that this incident is not going to make relationships any easier for him with other communities: “I think it’s just going to cause more grave damage to this presidency because it cuts to the very core of who he is. He just shouldn’t be referring to countries like around the world in this manner.”
The White House issued a statement Thursday afternoon, though it did not directly address what Trump allegedly said.
