Family of NK Prisoner Who Was Just Freed Releases Statement Thanking Trump and God

On Wednesday morning, President Donald Trump announced that the three U.S. prisoners that were being held in North Korea had been freed and were coming back to the United States with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

“They seem to be in good health,” he tweeted.

Shortly after, Trump added that they would be landing at 2 a.m. and that he would “be there to greet them.”

Now, the family of Tony Kim, one of the released prisoners, has released a statement.

Kim was detained in April just before boarding his flight at the Pyongyang airport, and North Korean authorities claimed he was attempting to overthrow the government.

In the statement, Kim’s family thanked Trump for “engaging directly with North Korea” as well as God for his “safe return.”
